$175,000 Available for Technical Merit or Feasibility of an Innovative Idea | Dec 22, 2023 | Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Phase | Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology

Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology invites US-based small businesses to submit proposals to explore the technical merit or feasibility of an innovative idea or technology to develop a viable product or service that will be introduced to the commercial marketplace.

$295,000 Available for Technical Feasibility | Jan. 9, 2024 | SBIR Phase I | National Science Foundation (NSF)

The National Science Foundation (NSF) SBIR/STTR program encourages startups and small businesses to submit proposals across nearly all areas of science and engineering. The Program is intended to focus on challenges associated with technological innovation specifically; that is, on creating new products, services, and other scalable solutions based on fundamental science or engineering.

$50,000 Available for Three-Phase Prize | Jan. 17, 2024 | Re-X Before Recycling Prize |U.S. Department of Energy

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the launch of the Re-X Before Recycling Prize. This three-phase competition is designed to develop innovative ways to extend the lifetimes of products or parts via re-using, repairing, refurbishing, remanufacturing, or repurposing (“Re-X”) before recycling.

$750,000 Available for Projects to Increase Hydropower’s Flexibility | Jan. 18, 2024 | Strategies to Increase Hydropower Flexibility | Water Power Technologies Office

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) today released a $9.5 million funding opportunity to increase hydropower’s flexibility, allowing it to better balance the variability of resources such as wind and solar on the power system.

$500,000 Available for Adoption of Advanced Carbon Management Technologies | April 30, 2024 | Strategies to Increase Hydropower Flexibility | Water Power Technologies Office

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced it is making $100 million available to support states, local governments, and public utilities in purchasing products derived from converted carbon emissions. The goal is to speed up adoption of advanced carbon management technologies, creating a market for environmentally sustainable alternatives in fuels, chemicals, and building products sourced from captured emissions from industrial and power generation facilities. This effort aligns with the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic climate and clean energy agenda.

$250,000 Available for Renewable Energy Systems | Mach 31, 2024 | Rural Energy for America Program | The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)

The program provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy-efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing.

$900,000 Available for Earth System Model Development and Analysis | Mach 21, 2024 | Department of Energy — Office of Science

BER supports fundamental, interdisciplinary research to achieve a predictive systems-level understanding of Earth, environmental and biological systems. In particular, BER seeks to develop advanced mathematical methods and computational models for systems ranging from molecular to global scales and an ability to connect large and diverse datasets with models, which in turn enables more holistic and robust predictions of complex system behavior.
